About Ono City
Ono became a city in 1954 through the merger of two towns, including Ono, and six villages, and absorbed the village of Izumi in 2005. It has the largest area of any municipality in the prefecture, and the streetscape of the castle town below Echizen Ono Castle, known as the "castle in the sky," still survives. Ono City Office is in Tenjin-cho.
