About Miyako City
Miyako City was formed in 1941 when four towns and villages, including Miyako Town, merged and adopted city status; it merged with Taro Town and Niisato Village in 2005 and absorbed Kawai Village in 2010. The city is home to Cape Todogasaki, the easternmost point of Honshu, and Jodogahama, one of the most celebrated scenic spots on the Sanriku Coast. The city office is in Miyamachi 1-chome.
