About Shikama Town
Shikama Town came into being when Shikama Village adopted town status in 1978, and it has remained an independent town, staying out of the 2003 merger in Kami District. Calling itself "the hometown of kappa", it is also known for Date Shrine and Mount Funagata. The town office is in the Shikama area.
