About Murakami City
Murakami first became a city in 1954 through the merger of five municipalities including Murakami Town, and took its present form in 2008 after merging with Arakawa Town, Kamihayashi Village, Asahi Village and Sanpoku Town. Traces of its past as the castle town of the Murakami Domain remain, and it is known for the salmon of the Miomote River, Senami Onsen and the Sasagawa Nagare coastline. The main city office is in Sannocho.
