About Nagaoka City
The central city of the Chuetsu region, Nagaoka adopted city status in 1906 and between 2005 and 2010 absorbed ten surrounding municipalities, including Tochio City, Yamakoshi Village and Kawaguchi Town. It flourished as the castle town of the Nagaoka Domain and is known for the Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks. The city office is in Aore Nagaoka, a three-minute walk from JR Nagaoka Station.
