About Mugi Town
Mugi became a town in 1915 when Mugi Village adopted town status. It is known for the offshore island of Tebajima and for the "Thousand-Year Coral," one of the world's largest Porites lutea corals, growing in the sea near Oshima Island. The town office is in Honmura, Nakamura, and a new office building is being developed in Yamada, Nakamura.
