About Obanazawa City
Obanazawa adopted city status in 1959. It is home to Ginzan Onsen, famous for its snowy scenery, and also produces Obanazawa watermelons. The Hanagasa dance is said to have originated in the embankment work for Lake Tokura. The city office is in Wakabacho 1-chome, where a new building opened in 2019.
