What is a public health center?
Public health centers are public health counters set up by prefectures, designated cities, core cities and others. They handle consultations on infectious diseases and food poisoning, business permits for restaurants, barbershops and beauty salons, notifications from medical institutions, and consultations on mental health and intractable diseases. Your center is determined by your address (for businesses, the location of the facility).
Most centers are open weekdays from about 8:30 to 17:15 (this differs by prefecture and city). Closed on weekends, public holidays and over the New Year break.
