About Omitama City
Omitama City was formed in 2006 through the merger of the towns of Ogawa and Minori with Tamari Village. It is home to Ibaraki Airport, which shares its site with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's Hyakuri Air Base, and faces Lake Kasumigaura to the west. The main city office is in Katakura (former Minori Town).
