About Tono City
Tono City was established in 2005 through the merger of the former Tono City and Miyamori Village. It is the setting of Kunio Yanagita's "The Legends of Tono", and folk tales featuring kappa and zashiki-warashi are handed down here. The city office is on Chuo-dori, where a new main building opened in 2017 to replace the former office destroyed in the earthquake.
