About Hanamaki City
Hanamaki City was created in 2006 by the merger of the former Hanamaki City with the towns of Ishidoriya, Ohasama and Towa. It is the birthplace of Kenji Miyazawa and is said to be where wanko soba originated, with the Hanamaki Onsen hot spring resorts in its western part. The city office is about a 10-minute walk from Hanamaki Station.
