About Yokkaichi City
Yokkaichi adopted city status in 1897 and absorbed the town of Kusu in 2005; it is the most populous city in Mie. It developed as an industrial city built around Yokkaichi Port on Ise Bay and the industrial complexes along its waterfront. The main city office building is in Suwacho.
