About Murata Town
Murata Town was established in 1955 through the merger of Murata Town, Numabe Village and the Sugo area of Tomioka Village. Its townscape, lined with the storehouse-style shops of merchants who prospered in the safflower trade, was selected in 2014 as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The town office is in Aza Sako, Oaza Murata.
