About Beppu City
Beppu came into being in 1924 when Beppu Town adopted city status. It is an International Tourism and Hot Spring Culture City known for Beppu Onsen, said to have the largest hot spring discharge in Japan. The city office is in Uenoguchimachi, where the new building opened in 1985 after the office moved to its current site.
