About Yame City
Yame became a city in 1954 when Fukushima Town absorbed three neighboring villages, and it later absorbed Joyo Town in 2006 and four towns and villages including Kurogi in 2010. It is a producing area of Yame tea, and the Iwatoyama Kofun, believed to be the tomb of Iwai, Lord of Tsukushi, is located here. The city office is in Honmachi and moved into a new building in 2024.
