About Mihara City
Mihara gained city status in 1936 and took its present form in 2005 through a merger with Hongo, Kui and Daiwa towns. It is home to the ruins of Mihara Castle, built by Kobayakawa Takakage, and to Buttsuji, the head temple of the Buttsuji school of Rinzai Zen. The city office is about a 10-minute walk from JR Mihara Station, in Minatomachi.
