About Yonabaru Town
Facing Nakagusuku Bay, Yonabaru Town was established in 1949 when three northern communities separated from Ozato Village. It is known for the Yonabaru Great Tug-of-War, a traditional event also selected for the "Okinawa Furusato Hyakusen" (100 Hometown Treasures of Okinawa). The town office is in Ueyonabaru, where operations in a new building began in 2023.
