Yokohama Inochi no Denwa opened in September 1980 and was approved as a social welfare corporation in 1983. Counseling in Japanese is available 24 hours a day, every day; you do not have to give your name, and your conversation is confidential. It also runs counseling lines in Spanish and Portuguese for foreign residents.

• It has operated 24 hours a day, including overnight, since 1986, and has offered counseling in Spanish and Portuguese since 1993.
