About Awara City
The northernmost city in Fukui, Awara was created in 2004 by the merger of the towns of Awara and Kanazu. Its central area consists of the hot spring town of Awara Onsen, first opened in the Meiji era, and the Kanazu district, which originated as a post town on the Hokurikudo road. The city office is located in the former Kanazu Town Office.
