About Eiheiji Town
The town was established in 2006 by the merger of the towns of Matsuoka and Eiheiji and the village of Kamishihi. Historical and cultural sites gather here, including Eiheiji, a head temple of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism, and the Matsuoka Kofun Cluster, and the town is also home to the University of Fukui's medical school and Fukui Prefectural University. The town office is in the Matsuoka area (Matsuoka Kasuga).
