About Mihama Town
Mihama was established in 1954 by the merger of four villages: Kitasaigo, Minamisaigo, Mimi and Santo, and it is now the only municipality in Mikata District. Along the border with Wakasa Town lie the Mikata Five Lakes, a Ramsar-listed wetland. The town office is in Goichi, a 10-minute walk from JR Mihama Station, in a building completed in 1994.
