About Oketo Town
Oketo was formed as Oketo Village after separating from Nokkeushi Village (now Kitami City), and adopted town status in 1950. Drawing on its forest resources, the town produces the woodcraft known as “Oke Craft”, and Lake Oketo lies on the upper reaches of the Tokoro River. The town office is in the Oketo area of the town center.
