About Shari Town
Shari Village was formed in 1915 through the merger of five villages including Shari, and became a town in 1939. Occupying the northern side of the Shiretoko Peninsula and facing the Sea of Okhotsk, it is known as the gateway to the Shiretoko World Natural Heritage Site. The town office is in Honcho in the town center, with a branch office in Utoro.
