Hokkaido Inochi no Denwa is a counseling service opened in Sapporo in January 1979 and approved as a social welfare corporation in 1983. It has operated 24 hours a day since 1987, and trained, certified counselors think through your worries with you over the phone. Your conversation is confidential, and you can call free of charge without giving your name.

  A number you can use free of charge only on the 10th of every month. Hours are 8:00 to 8:00 the next day. Organized by the Federation of Inochi no Denwa (general incorporated association) and supported by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

• Consultation is free, and each other's religion and beliefs are respected.
• Calls are answered by counselors who passed document screening and an interview, completed about a year and a half of training, and passed a certification review.
• It has operated 24 hours a day since June 1987, taking calls every single day without a break.
• Lines are often busy, so if you cannot get through, wait a while and call again.
