Morioka Inochi no Denwa: phone number and hours

Morioka Inochi no Denwa is a telephone counseling service in Iwate Prefecture that opened in January 1991 and has been run as a social welfare corporation since 1997. Trained volunteers listen to your worries in a setting where neither side gives their name. Since April 2012 it has also offered online counseling by email.

  Calls are taken on the 10th of every month from 8:00 to 8:00 the next day (24 hours).

• A system is in place that does not accept calls with caller ID withheld, so if your number is blocked, dial "186" before the number.
• Your conversation is confidential, and neither the caller nor the counselor gives their name. The caller's phone number is not shown to the counselor.
• Calls are answered by volunteer counselors who have completed the prescribed training course.
• It does not teach any particular set of values and respects freedom of religion and belief.
• Calls may be recorded for counselor training and protection, but the content is never used for other purposes or given to third parties.

Your municipality (city, ward, town or village) also has counters for welfare, health and child-rearing concerns. Call the main number, explain what you want to discuss, and ask for the counter in charge.
