About Higashi Ward
Higashi Ward of Hiroshima was established in 1980 when the city became a government-designated city, under the provisional name "Ushita Ward" at first. It is home to Fudoin Temple, known for its Main Hall, a National Treasure, and to Hiroshima Toshogu Shrine. The ward office is in Higashikaniya-cho.
