Emergency Medical Consultation Center (#7119): phone number and hours

• Doctors, nurses, paramedics and trained counselors ask about your condition over the phone and help you decide whether to call an ambulance or go to a hospital right away.
• If your case is judged highly urgent, you are connected to an emergency dispatch, for example by transfer to 119.
• If it is not urgent, they can tell you how to give first aid, which medical facilities you can visit and when to go.
• Even if you only feel unwell and do not know which hospital to go to, they can refer you to a medical facility you can visit.
• Because #7119 is available only in limited areas, you are advised to check your area before calling. Some areas take consultations on a number other than #7119, and the hours and target ages (some areas cover roughly age 15 and over and direct those under 15 to #8000) also differ by area.

• As of our check in October 2026, it runs in 42 areas nationwide. Some areas do not run it, and some offer emergency telephone consultation on a number other than #7119.
• If life is at risk, for example unconsciousness or difficulty breathing, call 119 without hesitation.

Your municipality (city, ward, town or village) also has counters for welfare, health and child-rearing concerns. Call the main number, explain what you want to discuss, and ask for the counter in charge.
