Gifu Inochi no Denwa: phone number and hours

Gifu Inochi no Denwa is a telephone counseling service run by the Gifu Inochi no Denwa Association (NPO). You do not have to give your name, and your conversation is strictly confidential. Calls are taken daily from 19:00 to 22:00, and also from 12:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and from 8:00 on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays. It also offers online counseling commissioned by Gifu Prefecture.

  Apply on the application page and you will receive the URL of a counseling page by email. Post your message there and you will get a reply within about 5 days. One application covers up to 3 exchanges as a rule. Provided under commission from Gifu Prefecture.

• Inochi no Denwa Navi Dial

  Daily 10:00–22:00. Several centers across Japan work together, and Gifu Inochi no Denwa also takes part. You are connected to an available center. Call charges depend on the type of phone you call from and are not covered by mobile flat-rate calling plans.

• Toll-free Inochi no Denwa

  Daily 16:00–21:00, and on the 10th of every month from 8:00 to 8:00 the next morning. Organized by the Federation of Inochi no Denwa with Gifu Inochi no Denwa taking part; no call charges.

• You do not have to give your name, and your conversation is strictly confidential. Counseling is free.
• Calls are answered by volunteer counselors who have received a set level of training.
• To listen better, counseling calls are recorded. The data is managed appropriately under a duty of confidentiality.
• Because of high demand, the line is often busy and hard to get through; you are asked to call again after a while.
• There are times when the service pauses because counselors are unavailable; in that case you are asked to use Navi Dial or another center.

Your municipality (city, ward, town or village) also has counters for welfare, health and child-rearing concerns. Call the main number, explain what you want to discuss, and ask for the counter in charge.
