About Kaita Town
Kaita was created in 1956 by the merger of Kaitaichi Town and Higashikaita Town. It once flourished as Kaitaichi, a post town on the Saigoku Kaido highway, and is home to the headquarters of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force 13th Brigade. The town office is in Minamishowa-machi, where a new building opened in 2023.
