About Kure City
Kure gained city status in 1902 when four towns and villages, including Washo Town and Miyahara Village, merged, and annexed eight surrounding towns between 2003 and 2005. A port city that was once home to the Kure Naval District of the former Imperial Navy, it has the Yamato Museum (Kure Maritime Museum). The city office is about a 15-minute walk from JR Kure Station, in Chuo 4-chome.
