About Iwakuni City
After gaining city status in 1940, Iwakuni merged with seven towns and villages of Kuga District in 2006 to form a new city. It is known for Kintaikyo Bridge, one of Japan's three most unusual bridges, Iwakuni Castle, and the white snakes of Iwakuni, a national Natural Monument. The city office is in Imazu-machi 1-chome.
