About Tosa City
Tosa became a city in 1959 when the town of Takaoka changed its name, choosing Tosa to avoid sharing a name with Takaoka City in Toyama. It is home to Kiyotakiji and Shoryuji, temples of the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage. The city office is in Takaoka-cho, in a building completed in 2022.
