About Tohoku Town
The present Tohoku Town was formed in 2005 by merging the former Tohoku Town and Kamikita Town, and Lake Ogawara spreads across its eastern part. It is also known for the “Nihon Chuo” stone monument, inscribed with the words “center of Japan”. The town office is in the former Kamikita town office building in Kamikita-minami, and in 2022 the functions of the annex were moved to the main office and other buildings.
